Subject:DAVID SANGER MEMORIAL RECITAL

Pupils of David Sanger, the internationally-renowned organ recitalist, recording artist and teacher, are to present a public tribute to their teacher in the form of a memorial recital in central London. David, who died tragically in May at the age of 62, was President of the Royal College of Organists.

Four of his pupils, all of them leading players themselves, will be joined by the leading Swedish musician Hans Fagius, with whom David made several duet recordings. David Aprahamian Liddle, David Goode, Stephen Farr and James Lloyd Thomas will each perform music of particular relevance, and Hans Fagius will end the recital with a performance of Bach’s Prelude and Fugue (‘The Wedge’).

The musical tribute will take place at 1.00pm on Monday 1st November in St Michael’s Cornhill in the City of London. This was originally to have been the date of David’s own recital as part of a special series of concerts to celebrate the completion of a major restoration of the church’s historic organ. Admission to the recital is free. There will be a retiring collection.

Subject:SANGERSTEVNE - A MESSAGE FROM PHILIP NORMAN

The London Sangerstevne (www.sangerstevne.org.uk) is beginning to outgrow its second home (1st home - St John's E11, 2nd home - St Matthew's W5) and is looking to possibly change venue for its main Saturday event. Here is a wish list drawn up by Christine Didelot, who does most of the organising spade work of the festival:

*)Large capacity to welcome up to 500 people in a given concert
*)Large hall with a decent number of toilet / changing facilities
*)A well-tuned piano in the church and a keyboard in the hall for warm-ups
*)Access to public transport - several Tube lines would be a distinct advantage as there are always planned closures at the weekend...
*)Proximity of bars and restaurants for evening social activities
*)Guarantee that the festival won't be cancelled should there be a wedding booking request after the festival is booked
*)Full support of the church PCC.

At present just overall possibilities are being reviewed. The change of venue may happen in 2011 (the published date for the main event is Saturday 14 May, 1pm - 9pm) or not until 2012, for which no date has been published.

Anyone got any suggestions?? Please reply to this post.

Subject:2-manual Miller electronic organ - available free

This organ, useful as a practice instrument, was the property of Donald Ray, recently deceased. It appears to be in pretty good condition, but might need some minor attention.

It is offered free to anyone who is prepared to pay for the cost of its removal from the Ray household in North Chingford. This is not a straightforward matter, owing to the location of the organ in the house, and it will require professional handling.

Anyone interested in pursuing the matter further should reply to this posting to obtain further information.
